Polegate Windmill, also called Ovenden's Mill or Mockett's Mill, was built in 1817 and was working by wind until 1943 , then an electric motor was fitted as a means of driving the stones and the mill continued working until 1965. Restored and now open to the public, the original applewood machinery can still be found inside this 45 feet (13 metres) tower mill.
